| Message from Vicki |
It takes two years to bring the Games together and then just nine days for it all to happen, but what a fantastic nine days they have been!!
It begins like a tsunami as competitors flood into the Village to check in –there’s such a buzz on – people smiling, people reuniting, you know they have come to have a good time– it’s such a positive atmosphere…..the Marching team from Australia, the Rotovegas netball team, the Spotswood soccer team back for their eight Games… this is only my second Games and recognised a few faces.
We were spoilt in Dunedin to have the University campus as our Games Village and once again it’s been a brilliant hub and a fabulous venue for entertainment. Shane Cortese not only kick started the party with the 8 track band but then went on to win gold on the football field. The Casino night raised $1000 for the Cancer Society. Urzila Carlson brought the house down with her fabulous sense of humour.
We hope you took every opportunity to enjoy your time with us, we hope you achieved some goals, bettered your PB and even went home with some well-earned ‘bling’.
So the Games have come to an end and tomorrow the planning starts for next year when that tide of competitors will come whooshing back in.
