Welcome

Brace yourself it’s that time of the year again.

The New Zealand Masters Games is back in Dunedin and we are getting geared up for games week 1-9 February 2014.

‘New’ seems to be the recurring theme, in this the 25th New Zealand Masters Games. There’s a new Games Manager, a new naming sponsor, new ambassadors and some new and exciting sports that have been added to our line up. We are extremely fortunate to have on board a new naming sponsor in the Southern Trust and the 2014 and 2015 Games will proudly be called the Southern Trust New Zealand Masters Games.

We are looking forward to our continued association with the Southern Trust, and are extremely grateful for their support.

Huge Thanks to our Naming Sponsor

From its modest beginnings in Dunedin in 1998 the Southern Trust has grown to be one of the top 5 gaming trusts in the country.

The Southern Trust is proud that in the first ten years of its existence, they have distributed more than $162m to a diverse number of organisations in communities throughout New Zealand. The Southern Trust believes that in each and every one of the donations awarded, a real difference in the quality of life of the New Zealand community has been made.

It is the philosophy of the Trust to ensure that they demonstrate a broad approach to funding our communities. We thank the Southern Trust for being our naming sponsor for the 2014 Games, their contribution makes these games a reality!

2014 Games Ambassadors

We are delighted to announce the Games Ambassadors for the 2014 Masters Games (from left) Tony Gilbert, Lisa Daniels and Nina Daniels.

Mr Tony Gilbert, former Otago and Highlanders coach and All Blacks assistant coach, said he was proud to take up the role and was happy to watch from the side lines. ‘‘It’ll be good to get around and watch a few sports,’’ he said.

Former Olympic synchronised swimming sisters Lisa and Nina are also biding their time before joining the masters ranks as athletes.

The trio have reached major achievements in their sporting careers and we are privileged to have them as our Games Ambassadors for 2014.
